About

We're expanding! After 3 years of RFE in Hong Kong, Kai Tak and Macao, let's move eastwards to the edge of Asia, and experience RFE Taipei!

Taipei City, the capital of the Republic of China (ROC), has been served by two airports since the 80s - Taipei Taoyuan (RCTP/TPE) and Taipei Songshan (RCSS/TSA), which mainly serves international and domestic flights respectively. With full ATC coverage given, come test the skills of Taiwanese Air Traffic Controllers as you fly flights from the real schedule and make your way in and out of Taipei!

July 21, experience the Asian rush!

    • RCTP AD FOR EXAMINE WORK, RUNWAY IS CLOSED DAILY AS FOLLOWS:
      • RWY 05L/23R 0600-0630 UTC DAILY.
      • RWY 05R/23L 0230-0300 UTC DAILY.(0215-0315 EVERY WED)
  • Unless authorized by appropriate authority, no aircraft shall make engine tests during Noise Abatement Period at 1600-2200 UTC.
  • Special taxi restrictions apply for B748 and A380. Follow GND instructions strictly.
  • VFR Circuit: Right hand circuit RWY23L/R.

ARRIVALS
EXPECTED RUNWAY
  • 05L/23R - Due to taxiway construction, 05L only available for FRTR ACFT
  • 05R/23L - Available for all types of aircraft

SPEED CONTROL
  • Turbojet aircraft arriving to Taipei/Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport via STARs, whether under radar vectoring or weather deviation or not, shall comply with the arrival speed control listed below, unless otherwise instructed by ATC or entering holding pattern.
    • At or below FL250 and at or above FL130: MAINTAIN 280 KT IAS
    • Below FL130 and at or above 10000ft: maximum 220KT IAS.
  • Unless otherwise instructed by ATC, all pilots should follow the following speed control. Unable to comply shall be notified to ATC as soon as possible.
    • 23L: Cross FLASH/15 track miles from touchdown at 200-180 KT IAS; Cross FAP/FAF at 160-150 KT IAS.
    • 05L: Cross KARAN/15 track miles from touchdown at 200-180 KT IAS; Cross ITIA D5.0 at 160-150 KT IAS.
  • ATC instruction: "Cancel speed restriction below 10,000" does not cancel the Approach Speed Control. Approach Speed Control should be cancelled by ATC instruction: "Cancel Approach Speed Control".
  • Aircraft may be instructed to increase or reduce speed as dictated by actual overall traffic. If ATC unit has given instruction to increase or reduce speed, and later instructed to resume normal speed, pilots shall revert to the aforementioned arrival speed control. If any change in airspeed, other than the speed control listed above, is necessary due to turbulence, etc., pilots shall inform ATC as soon as possible.

DEPARTURES
PREFLIGHT
  • Aircraft shall call "Taipei Delivery" at 121.8MHz for obtaining ATC clearance 5 minutes ahead of engine start-up, giving their call sign, parking bay number and proposed flight level. When flight operations permit, pilots are encouraged to identify a strata of acceptable altitudes so that an altitude may be assigned with one message in order to avoid communication congestion; then, ATC will assign a suitable altitude.
  • An aircraft requesting an altitude occupied by a transit flight operating through Taipei FIR may have to accept an alternate altitude or may have to delay its departure in order for ATC to establish the prescribed separation.
  • Unless a restriction on departure time has otherwise been specified, an aircraft that is not ready to push back within 5 minutes of receiving ATC clearance may have its clearance withdrawn. In such a situation, ATC will inform the aircraft of the clearance cancellation plus the reason. Following the cancellation of an ATC clearance, aircraft will follow the normal clearance request procedure as if it is the first time they were ready to depart.
START-UP, PUSHBACK AND TAXIING
  • After receiving the ATC clearance, aircraft are to call "Taipei Ground" at 121.7MHz for start-up and pushback when ready.
  • Unless otehrwise approved by ATC departing aircraft, at the end of pushback, must have all engines started and be ready to taxi to reduce the overall delay of traffic.
  • Unless otehrwise approved by ATC, pilots shall not cross runways or use runways for taxiing.
EXPECTED RUNWAY
  • 05L/23R - Due to taxiway construction, 23R only available for FRTR ACFT
  • 05R/23L - Available for all types of aircraft
NOISE ABATEMENT PERIOD (NAP) 1600-2200 UTC
  • SIDs comprise 3NM initial climb on runway heading are mandatory for NAP. No early turn should be made unless ATC instruction or in emergency.
SPEED CONTROL
  • Flying South (AJ1G, AJ1M)
    • 1.RWY 05L/05R: speed restriction of 210KT IAS maximum until established on track to NOVAS.
    • 2.RWY 23R/23L: speed restriction of 210KT IAS maximum until established on track to SUMER.
  • Flying North
    • 1.RWY 23R/23L: speed restriction of 210KT IAS maximum until established on track to DECOY.
